The intention is to produce an elegant development that celebrates and enhances the original buildings while delivering landmark Hawthorn residences for the ages.
The design approach for Hawthorn Hill combined elements of the past and present throughout, celebrating traditional craft techniques and production while incorporating modern technological advances.
This contrast is reflected in the retention and refurbishment of the two existing heritage buildings which front Burwood Road, as well as the sensitive use of contrasts, colours and materiality to form a pleasing integration of style between the new and old buildings.
The intention was to create an elegant response that celebrates and enhances the original form while ensuring the design is relevant to the area’s influx of changing demographics.
Recognising the desire for residents to feel at home, the dwellings have been specifically designed to accommodate a collection of furniture and a series of pieces, rather than the conventional built-in items commonly offered in new multi-residential developments. This philosophy is applied in the kitchen, living area, bedrooms and bathrooms, allowing residents the ability to personalise their space and truly make this their home.
