Ess
Ess Garden Apartments demonstrate an inherent appreciation for their context.
An analysis of the site's archeology meant tram and rail connections to Essendon provided a logical source of inspiration and reflection for a transit oriented development.
The built envelope translates the expected horizontal balcony rhythms of a residential development into a dialogue of nodes and junctions, reminiscent of a railway system. The collection of built forms respects the urban design guidelines of the neighbourhood and creates a distinctly active frontage to Keilor Road.
Intuitively, the building forms split into two allowing a more private frontage that opens up to a sun filled courtyard facing the city.
