Keilor
This five-storey, mixed use building embraces its North Essendon location by referencing aspects of the culture, community and immediate context, reinforcing a considered and site specific design response.
Divided into two contrasting built forms, the podium level is composed of two rectilinear structures facing the street interface and northern residential interface to the rear. The second recessive curvilinear upper level form cascades between and through the podium levels, framing the courtyard and the entry/retail areas at street level.
The Keilor Road podium provides a strong, articulated and active street interface to the south, while a screened and thoughtfully landscaped interface is provided to the northern residential interface.
An internal courtyard area allows light and amenity to apartments and provides a green refuge and communal focus en route to individual apartments.
