Doonside
The architectural language aims to present a cohesive expression across the entire development that is adaptable across the three distinct frontages. The design concept is grounded in the notion of transition, given the site's position within a mix of uses and built forms, covering retail, medium density industrial and single storey residential.
Upper residential forms are generated as clean and crisp expressions, presenting a modular articulation across three street interfaces. The Appleton Street facade modular articulation is repeated and of a fine grain, transitioning to increasing scale as the existing built context becomes less sensitive and larger gestures become more appropriate.
palette of high quality materials has been designed to provide varied texture and subtle distinction between the expression on the three main elevations. Materials such as stone, metallic cladding and glass form the basis of the material language, providing an elegant and contemporary quality to the proposed elevations.
A pedestrian plaza located centrally on the site provides connection from Doonside Street to Appleton Street for both public and resident use and provides a varied selection of places for interaction and retreat.
Proposed sky gardens are located on level six and provide an opportunity for residents to engage with neighbours or find a place of private retreat.
